Driving Old I-195

This is a video of a drive along Eastbound I-195 in downtown Providence RI on the last day it was open to traffic (December 5, 2008). The ongoing "IWAY" project is relocating I-195 south of the old location, eliminating curves and allowing restoration of the city street grid where the old highway was.

The old I-195 westbound is still open and will be for a while yet. Rome wasn't built in a day.

The video starts off on I-95 near the Providence Place Mall and ends at the east end of the Washington Bridge (also being rebuilt). The now-closed portion is from the left exit off of I-95 and ends about at the bridge with the large lettering "India Point Bridge".
